Sony PlayStation Vita First Look

TrustedReviews says
With excellent graphics, a superb 5in screen, dual-analogue and touch screen controls and a host of other goodies, PS Vita narrows the gap between console and handheld, and reminds you why a dedicated mobile gaming device is a good idea.

Graphics and screen
Does the world need PlayStation Vita? That’s the question that seems to be on a lot of lips right now. The theory goes that there’s no need for a new handheld console; Nintendo’s 3DS isn’t selling, hence the recent price drop, while smartphones, tablets and the games that run on them are growing ever more sophisticated and more graphically accomplished. In fact, the iPad 2 - and presumably the iPhone 5 when it arrives - pack more than enough graphics power to function as a games console, and the latest Android phones follow suit. Why do you need to carry something else to do the same job?

Just a few minutes after playing with PlayStation Vita, all of this theory pretty much evaporates. Give it another couple, and you remember exactly why a dedicated handheld console is a great idea. We had extensive time at last week's Gamescom in Cologne to get to grips with Sony’s new handheld, and go hands-on with its pre-production games. It’s safe to say that we’re impressed.
